Build Unique Medical Simulations

To celebrate their 10-year anniversary, SimX developed the Virtual Manikin Series with case creation capabilities.

The SimX Virtual Manikin™ Series is a customizable collection of simulated patient encounters that allows educators to select patient avatars, environments, and scenario outcomes to create thousands of unique simulated patient encounters with one simple and customizable tool.

Real-Time Patient Customization

In a VR scenario, educators assess as learners engage with a lifelike patient in a realistic setting. In real time, simulation moderators adjust the scenario to meet learner needs. With the Virtual Manikin™, moderators customize and control:

  • Patient appearance (demographic, age, and sex)
  • Encounter environment (hospital or ambulance)
  • Patient vitals
  • Patient animations
  • Lab and imaging results
  • Physical exam findings
  • Patient and non-player character (NPC) dialogue
  • The final diagnosis

Save and Load Presets

Instantly toggle between prebuilt patient states, or choose to change the patient’s vitals, imaging, physical findings, labs, ultrasound results etc. Save these choices as your own custom patient states and quickly launch them when appropriate.

With the SimX Virtual Manikin, you now have the ability to build and practice patient encounters just the way you’ve always wanted to. Realistic virtual training has never been easier and more accessible.

What Is A “Virtual Manikin”?

The SimX Virtual Manikin™ series allows you to choose between different patients, diagnoses, and treatment options all in one system that takes less than 5 minutes to launch.

With the SimX Virtual Manikin™ series, training is no longer a static, rigid experience but an engaging and immersive encounter with true-to-life tools, environments, and patient interactions. Unlike traditional manikins, the Virtual Manikin™ can respond to and interact with learners in an effort to better gain and retain true-to-life clinical skills and knowledge.

A Budget-Friendly Simulation Solution

VR training requires less maintenance, equipment, and manpower than traditional simulation training.

You no longer have to fill a sim room with monitors, defibrillators, medications, medical tools, ventilators, ultrasound machines, or costly manikins. You can now incorporate all of this and more into one virtual patient encounter with the click of a button. Get to the next level of high- fidelity training and still have budget to spare!

Testimonials

Jessica Rinard
2024
Cleveland Clinic

“It’s a much quicker process than actually having to, you know, grab our crash carts, turn on our manikins, moulage them, kind of get in the seats up. So it does cut down quite a bit on, uh, the amount of time it takes for us to kind of get between different types of scenarios.”

Kristen Palmer

University of Delaware

“SimX has a great team of professionals who a lot of them have medical backgrounds, so it’s easy to talk with them on using similar language. They understand my field and my profession so that they can help build a robust case.”

Beth Culross, PhD, RN
2024
Assistant Professor, University of Nebraska Medical Center

“From a cost efficiency perspective, VR is a game changer to me because it is so much more cost effective for universities to use, even just from the amount of space that you need.”

Dr. Bethany Cieslowski
GMU
“Student nurses in the IVR training group performed better in overall performance than the students attending inpatient clinical training.”
Jenny Patton, CEHRS
2024
Manager of Medical Training Platforms, West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine

“VR is real time, and that makes it very effective for our students and the fact that our patients in VR can talk back to the students.”

Emilia Turucz
2023
Mures County Emergency Clinical Hospital - SMURD (Romania)
“SimX is a perfect tool to exercise case management and develop a proper medical critical thinking because trainees are exposed to a variety of pathologies in a very realistic environment. It can be perfectly positioned between manikin based simulation and bed side teaching.”
Nichole Brown, MSN, RN
2024
Simulation Education Specialist, Cleveland Clinic

“And what we’ve done is invited caregivers to practice together, and it’s more than just interprofessional education, but it’s intersite, interstate, intercountry practice where we’re providing care in the same ways and really learning how to speak the same language, and virtual reality has made that all possible.”

Justin Haney, RN
2020
Kadlec Regional Medical Center
“I wish I had SimX when I was in school! I’ve never played a video game that talked back. What an effective way to get ready to see actual patients!
Anthony Andriotis

“Learners themselves come into it or at least have come into it with a healthy dose of skepticism and after the fact have kind of unanimously said this was, you know, incredible…”

Sarah Darrell, MSN, RN
2024
Simulation Coordinator, Ivy Tech Community College

“Students have been so much more successful and really given us fantastic feedback and they want to keep seeing SimX come along.”

Heiddy DiGregorio, PhD, MSN
2024
Assistant Professor, University of Delaware

“At University of Delaware, using SimX has really helped us with critical thinking and clinical decision making with our students.”

Marc Dotson, DO, FACEP

“I’ve noted from working with SimX that it’s very user-friendly. You guys have been great. Anytime we’ve reach out, you’re very quick to respond, very helpful in answering questions. And also it adds diversity to our simulation environment.”

Jenn Ogier, DNP, RN
2024
Director of Simulation, University of New Hampshire

“At the University of New Hampshire, we wanted to give our students the opportunity to advance their education and knowledge of clinical practice using the most advanced technology available. SimX was a clear choice for us in being able to integrate that into our current simulation program and advance our curricula.”

Michael Looney
2022
Mashpee Middle-High School
“The introduction of VR has been a huge success! We have introduced the SimX platform to students, staff, healthcare providers, fire departments, parents, and the local MassHire Cape and Islands Workforce Board. They are all looking forward to supporting the initiative as it evolves.”
Claudia Ureno
2024
Golden West College

“I will tell them it’s the intuitive system. Like once you’re using it, it’s very intuitive to navigate through it. And then also very user friendly. So even if you haven’t done simulation with VR in the past, this is a system that is pretty intuitive and you can use it as you go.”

Dr Melissa J Perry
Richmond Times Dispatch

“VR creates a near real-world, rapid-fire response scenario where students learn to think on their feet and perform under pressure. Through repeated practice, VR is also shown to reinforce essential skills such as critical thinking, conflict management and perspective taking”

Gregory Yurasek, MD
2024
Cardiac Intensivist, Children's National Hospital

“Its virtual reality is also excellent for team dynamics. Someone has to step up as the leader and they can see the other avatars in the room, but they can also hear their actual voices.”

Dustin Tate

“We LOVE the program and so does our team. It has changed the way we conduct our education and try to incorporate it into every class we hold.”
